Do you think you can't sing?

When we're out and about in the community, almost the first thing many people say to us is "oh, I can't sing!". But actually, most people can - they just need to learn how!

In 2025, we ran a six-week course covering the basics of singing. Around 40 people came and discovered that, actually, they can sing after all! And we had so much fun doing it, that we've now set up a Hucknall Community Choir. We meet every other Wednesday at Central Methodist Church on Baker Street Hucknall. We start at 7.30pm and sing for around an hour and a half. Members pay £2 per session. We start with a warm up, learning about ways to use our voice and then sing a selection of songs from all sorts of genres: pop, rock, musicals, classical. You name it, we'll try it! Those that want to can also take part in concerts with the wider Torkard Ensemble and join in with our community singing appearances at residential and care homes. Want to find out more?
